“Foreigners will rebuild your walls and their kings will serve you. Even though I punished you in my anger, I will restore you in my gracious favor and show you my tender compassion. 11 Your gateways will always remain wide open around the clock to let in the procession of kings bringing their constant stream of the riches of the nations. 12 The nation or kingdom that refuses to serve you will perish and be utterly ruined. Isaiah 60:10-12
The power of covenant is on display in these verses. Because God is a covenant keeper His grace and kindness will always exceed punishment for our failures. The favor of God is mentioned as a work of God to cause others to bless us at His direction. We may not have done anything to deserve it but God compels someone to prefer us. This may apply to a career position, or special access others do not have, or a place of influence that seems to be beyond what we could ever reach on our own.
God takes delight in opening doors and making His children look better than they are and receive more than they deserve, that is favor from being in covenant with God.
If our mind begins to race toward wealth and power and popularity we have missed the point and God will pull back His favor to keep us from corrupting ourselves.
It is usually the humblest people who walk in Divine favor and barely notice the blessings of God until later. They live simply to love God and obey Him. They trust He will be faithful to do the supernatural work and take care of them along the way.
