All the flocks of Kedarn will be gathered to you, and the rams of Nebaioth will be yours as acceptable sacrifices on my altar, and I will adorn with more glory my glorious temple. 8 “Who are these who soar like clouds, flying like doves into their portals? 9 Indeed, the distant islands eagerly look for me, with their large ships leading the way. They are bringing Zion’s children from afar. They come with offerings of silver and gold to honor the name of Yahweh, your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you!” Isaiah 60:7-9
It’s difficult for us to comprehend the depth of God’s love for us. We live in a world of limited resources so we are taught to be frugal and not waste anything. Extravagance is seen as more of a sin than a virtue. Even love tends to be conditional and measured out. After all, we don’t want to spoil someone we love.
God operates on a completely different set of values. He lavished love on His people. His grace is endless and His love boundless. Jesus proved this by going as far as one can possibly go to express love in giving His life for us so we could draw even closer to God as sons and daughters.
We are the temples or dwelling places of God. Look in these verses how God speaks of adding “more glory to His glorious temple”. This is speaking of God revealing more of Himself to us, filling our lives with more of His joy and peace and power. The God of endless resources is a God of love looking for temples He can fill.
We must not put stops on God or filter His love. As we embrace more of God, others are drawn to His presence that overflows from our lives. This is how the Kingdom of God grows.
Let’s open our lives to all God wants to impart to us.
