When you feast your eyes on this, your heart will leap for joy and be revived; your body will flourish and sprout like grass. The mighty power of Yahweh will be revealed, resting on his servants, but his fury will be shown to his enemies! 15 Look! Yahweh is coming as a raging fire and his chariots like a whirlwind to unleash his anger with fiery fury and with the fiery lightning of his rebuke! 16 For with fire and with his sword Yahweh will judge humanity—many will be the slain of Yahweh! Isaiah 66:14-16
In this final portion of His writing Isaiah is clearly stating once again the contrast between those who walk with God and those who continue to rebel against Him. God’s power is manifest in two completely opposite ways. One way is healing and restoration and the other is judgment. This is because God is fully loving but also perfect in holiness. The choice as to which quality we will experience is up to us.
God is graciously warning humanity to receive blessing rather than judgment. This is a sobering truth when we think about the people around whom we love but have rejected Christ. It moves us to intercede for them so their eyes will be opened and they will humble themselves before the God of all creation who deserves their worship.
