Yet you did not call out to me, O Jacob. Are you so weary of me, O Israel?23 You have not brought me your sheep for burnt offerings or honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you by requiring many grain offerings or wearied you with demands for frankincense. 24 You did not buy me fragrant calamus reeds or lavish me with the fat of your sacrifices. Instead, you have burdened me with your many sins and wearied me with your evil deeds.25 I, yes I, am the One and Only, who completely erases your sins, never to be seen again. I will not remember them again. Freely I do this because of who I am! Isaiah 43:22-25
Yesterday we looked at the preceding verses about why God deserves our praise. But people get busy, distracted, and have other priorities so worshiping God becomes another responsibility or burden. This is so hard to admit, but we can become too busy and too selfish to give God what He is due. Giving and serving can become religious tasks performed from a sense of duty rather than acts of love.
God reminds us that He is the exclusive gateway to eternity through His forgiveness. He is gracious and kind and loving toward us and always wanting what is best for us.
Having our sins forgiven and erased should be enough to redirect our focus from busyness and give God the honor and praise He deserves.
