“Stop dwelling on the past. Don’t even remember these former things. 19 I am doing something brand new, something unheard of. Even now it sprouts and grows and matures. Don’t you perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and open up flowing streams in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19
The calendar today marks another trip around the Sun for me. I think it is one of those beautiful coincidences where God scheduled He and I to intersect this morning at these verses in Isaiah.
Every year, as we acknowledge our birth, we also tend to stop and look at our lives. How did I grow in the last year? What is ahead for this 66th year? For all the goals I didn’t hit this past year, there is no condemnation. For the goals I did accomplish, all the credit goes to Jesus.
As I anticipate a new beginning, I learn from the past, but don’t dwell there. God is always doing new things. I want to perceive this new path into the wilderness Isaiah describes. I want to focus my time and energies into this new thing. The vision God has for me to continue to grow and mature and impart something to others. I want to drink more from God’s flowing stream that is accessible even in a wilderness.
Today can be your new day, too. Pray to be spiritually sensitive and perceive God’s work in you. Take a few moments right now to drink from that flowing stream.
