We connect with God with both sides of our brain
The brain is such an amazing tool.
God designed it in two parts. Left sphere, right sphere. Each one has a different function and service. The left sphere handles our knowledge, our logic, our thinking process, our communicating. Where the right side handles emotions is the seat of our feelings. These two have to work together.
In fact, to be followers of Christ, to be true disciples, we must train both sides of the brain.
We refer to the left side of the brain, knowledge, as the head or the mind, then the right side as the heart. We use both to connect with God.
King Solomon challenged us not to search out knowledge but to receive wisdom from you, the rational and the relational.
Here’s a quick test to see how you’re doing in this area. Is your prayer life a monologue, all left brain where you do all the talking, or is it a right brain, a dialogue with God where you listen and allow Him to speak through His Word or impressions in your heart (Rom. 9:1)?
God gave us a brain and a Bible. We use both to connect with him.
