The secret to experiencing real love for the first time

Ever wonder why trusting others can feel like walking on a tightrope? I used to think about it all the time. Our struggles with trust often have roots that stretch all the way back to our childhood. Turns out, those early years are super important. It’s in those moments, when we’re just tiny humans, that we start to learn about love and trust.

Let’s break it down. Dr. Ericson, a pretty smart dude, talks about life’s big questions. The first one is simple yet powerful: Can I trust someone to take care of me? If the answer is no, guess what happens? You learn to rely on yourself. You become that independent, tough person who doesn’t need anyone else. You might have relationships, even get married, but never really let anyone in.

Here’s something that blew my mind. This trust thing, or lack of it, doesn’t just mess with our human relationships. It also affects our relationship with God. Yep, God designed us to feel His love through our parents first, and then through marriage. If we miss out on that parental love, we might spend our life searching.

Alan Short from UCLA has some interesting insights. He says 70% of men have poor attachment. That was me for years. But here’s the good news: Change is possible. I found healing, and it transformed my life. That’s why I ended up writing a book about it.

So how do you fix it? You don’t try to go back and get that parental love you missed. Instead, you turn to God, open yourself up like never before, and let His love wash over you. It’s about letting Him fill you with His grace, kindness, peace, and healing.

Imagine experiencing love in a real, deep way for the first time. It’s like a flood of warmth and acceptance. You might wonder, Can I really change? Absolutely. And when it happens, everything shifts. Life feels fuller, relationships get deeper, and trust becomes less of a scary thing.

If you’re tired of being stuck, maybe it’s time to explore what this kind of love can do for you. Trust me, it’s worth every step.
