Are you praying with your heart or just your head?

The brain is like a superpower we all have, and it’s one of those things that never fails to amaze me. It’s split into two parts: the left side and the right side. Each of these parts has its own job. The left side is all about logic, thinking, and communication. It’s where our knowledge hangs out. On the other hand, the right side is where our emotions and creativity come to party. Both sides need to work together to really function at their best.

Now, here’s a thought that really got me thinking: if we want to be true followers in our faith, we need to work on both sides of the brain. The left side is often called the mind or the head, and the right side is the heart. Both are essential for connecting with God. In fact, King Solomon gave us a bit of a challenge there. He said to dig into knowledge, but also to find wisdom. It’s not just about knowing stuff; it’s about understanding it in a way that connects us with others and with God.

Let me throw a quick test your way. Think about your prayer life. Is it like a monologue? That’s your left brain in action. Or is it more of a dialogue? That’s when your right brain kicks in, having a back-and-forth with God.
