This is what the Lord says about these people: “They come near to me with hollow words and honor me superficially with their lips; all the while their hearts run far away from me! Their worship is nothing more than man-made rules.
14 So therefore, I will again jolt this people awake with astonishing wonders upon wonders! And the wisdom of their wise ones will fail, and the intelligent know-it-alls will have no explanations. Isaiah 29:13-14
We adapt to whatever becomes normalized in our lives. If we install faucets in our kitchen backward we just adapt to the new wrong direction rather than taking everything apart. It is the same way in our spiritual life. If church and our relationship with God become routine, or a little boring we adapt. We go to church when it’s convenient, arriving at the last minute, half-heartedly worshiping, and maybe pick something from the message to think about applying later. We’ve done our duty and God should be impressed with our effort, right?
But what if God God is not satisfied and longs for more? What if He suddenly breaks through? What if He shows up in a chapel service in a small Kentucky Seminary and shakes the student body? What if this spreads across the nation as people come and experience God’s presence in such a real way normal is no longer enough? What if people get a taste of God’s presence and this creates a hunger for more?
That is what I hope to see and experience today as I travel to Wilmore, KY and join thousands who suddenly feel the sense of drawing to be where God is showing up in a unique way.
Some critics want to hold back and wait and judge. I would rather come hungry and humble, and in faith and believe I will meet God.
