01.21.23 Filled with Glory

On that day, the root of Jesse will be lifted up as a miracle-sign to rally the people. Gentiles will diligently seek him, and his resting place will be glorious! Isaiah 11:10

Such prophetic truth in this verse. “The root of Jesse” is a title for Jesus the Apostle John will repeat in the Book of Revelation (Rev. 5:5, 22:16). It refers to Jesus as the fulfillment of all the Messianic promises of a Savior for Israel. But, it also speaks to us as the ones Paul said are “grafted in” to the vine of Israel (Rom. 11).

The promise is for anyone who will “diligently seek him.” This is not token religious observation when it is convenient. This means centering our world around Jesus. Living for him rather than myself. If this is what we pursue, we become “His resting place” or dwelling of God (Eph. 2:22, 1 Cor. 3:16)

Here’s where this prophecy of Isaiah culminates. God not only dwells within us as His temples, but He brings His glory, His radiant presence that drives out darkness and overwhelms anything of man or this world (Ex. 40, 2 Chron. 5:14).

This glory God has displayed throughout human history can fill us again. It can fill the Church. Isaiah even saw a greater picture of the whole earth being filled with the glory of God (Isa. 6:3).

Father, start with this temple. Take all the space in my life , and nothing of me. Fill me with your glory as I seek you today. Let your presence overflow in my words and acts of love.
